Xavi Torres, that to the passed month of December performed the functions of Technical Director of Voltor Balear Swimming Team, has caused drop in this club. At the same time of to be the responsable of the technical works, Torres competed represented to this club. Professional and sports motives have been them alleged by the balearic swimmer to resign to its sports charge in one of the better sports moments of the club that counts on an excellent quarry of young swimmers.
During the almost five seasons in which Xavi Torres have been coach of the Voltor Balear has been obtained to have representation in all the national categories and in all the possible competitions of the calendar of the Spanish Swimming Federation. More than 150 swimmers they have paraded for this club in the last years; at present the team is composed for some 70 swimmers. During this period the Voltor Balear has assumed the direction of the Sports School of Natación dependent of the Municipal Institute of Sports of the city Hall of Palma, has obtained their new social headquarters in the Sports Center Son Moix and has changed the installations of the Polideportivo Germans Escales (where coached in two lanes) to the of the own Palau d’Esports Son Moix (where have counted six lanes and the gymnasium). The Voltor Balear Swimming Team has been consolidated as the third balearic club and in many moments himself there is in the same level of the better clubs of the islands.
Same time, Xavi Torres as swimmer of the Voltor Balear has been proclaimed paralimpic champion in Atlanta’96 and Sydney’2000, world champion in 1998 (New Zealand) and european champion in 1995 (Perpignan), 1997 (Badajoz) and 2001 (Stockholm) beating some worlds records during these season.
In the last training session the swimmers of the club they did delivery of a conmemorative present to Torres that thanked them all its support, job and contribution in this period.
