24/9/2002 – Xavi Torres in the Open Sea Race of Alcudia and the long Distance Race in Barcelona Por

Xavi Torres has participated in this last weekend in two races. In the morning of saturday he was present in the race of Alcudia. In this test the 7 kilometers were crossed that separate the beach of Formentor with the beach of Sant Joan. Paralympic champion Xavi Torres and the cooperator Alexander Fuentes, partner of the Veterinary ONG Without Borders, cover to I swim ten kilometers in the open sea to support a humanitarian project. The purpose of the test was to collect bottoms to help the indigenous population of Uganda. The ONG, according to explained their people in charge yesterday, takes care to form to the native ones and to facilitate credits to them to buy animals, to perfect facilities and to acquire materials necessary to work. 21/7/2002 – Xavi Torres, guest of the European Parlament

Carlos Ripoll, member of the European Parlament, invited Xavi Torres to visit the European Parlament in Brussels. There was a production team of Canal 4 TV. In two days, Torres visited the institution and meet with Loyola de Palacio (vice-chairman of the Excutive) and Jaime Andreu (president of the Sports Commission). The second day, there was a lunch with Theresa Zabell (Olympic champion in saoiling in Barcelona’92 and Atlanta’96) and actually member of the European Parlament.

Xavi Torres was interviewed in the sport program of Canal 4 TV “For a de Joc” and in radio program of RNE.

22/7/2002 – Spanish National Open Swimming Championships

300 swimmers from 15 regions and 7 countries will be in the XXXIII Spabnish National Swimming Championships next 26th, 27th and al 28th July in Almendralejo.
Xavi Torres (Real Club Náutico de Palma) hill participate in 150 IM, 50 fly and 50 breast. In this last event (50 breast), he’ll swim with some of the best breastrokers world class at the moment like Miquel Luque (olympic champion in Sydney), Vicente Gil (best world mark this year) and the mexican Emilio Montiel.

This championships was presented in Almendralejo by member of the Spanish and regional Federations of Disablede Sport.

The spanish coach, Juan Carlos Castañer, rememered that Spain is second in world medal table, follow Canada. He talk about the great sport and human level of the spanis team.

He say that the swqimmer will try to obtain the standards time to have his classification for the World Champ in Argentina next December

10/6/2002 – Two golds and three silver in the British Swimming Open.

Two victories in 150 medley (2.40.55) and 50 butterfly (45.41) and three silver medals in 50 breastroke (56.88), 100 backstroke (1.43.65) and 200 free (3.15.07) are the results of de Xavi Torres in the British Swimming Open to was held last week in Sheffield (Gran Bretanya)

The best performance competition was for Anthony Stephens like a best swimmer with his worl;d record in 100 back S5.

In 150 IM Torres win without problem followed by Anthony Stephens (Great Britain) and third was Thomas Rossemberger (Austria). In 50 fly Xavi Torres won to egyptian Essam Zedan and argentinan Ariel Quassi.

In the others events where Xavi Torres was second the results were two victories for Anthony Stephens (in 200 free and 100 back) and for Thomas Rossemberger (Austria) in 50 breatroke (55.05) and third was Chris Hallam of Wales (57.33)

Torres will be in Sheffield since tuesday and he’ll go to Seattle (Whasington State) to compete in US Open.

3/6/2002 – Xavi Torres will swim a international tour training for the World Champs

Xavi Torres, the spanish swimmer with more awards Hill Stara a internacional tour this month; he’ll be in Great Britain, USA and Germany training for the World Championships to be held in Argentina next december..
Torres, who established in March a new world record in 24 hours swimming (58’800 kilometres), was competing in Jyvaskyla (Finland), with Teresa Perales, and Astwertz (Belgium), and he was in the Spanish National Championships.
The Mallorca’s swimmer will compete this weekend in the BT British Open; he’ll swim Friday in the olympic pool “Ponds Forge” 200 free, Saturday he’ll swim 150 medley, 50 fly and 50 breastroke and Sunday he’ll finish his appearance in 100 free and 100 backstroke.

After Sheffield, Torres flight to Washington, where since 13th to 15th june will be held the el US Open, in Federal Way. In “King County Acuatic Center”, the three time paralympic gold medalist Hill compete in 200 free, 50 fly, 150 medley, 200 medley, 50 breastoke and 100 fly.
When the US Open will finnish, Torres go to Berlin and he’ll swim in the Olympic Pool Complex in the German National Championships in the follow events.

2/6/2002 – Xavi Torres in the 24 hours of CN Jaen

Xavi Torres was in the 24 hours in swimming of CN Jaen. This event celebrates the 25th year of the club. In the activities more important, there was a conference of Torres with a lot of people.

In the race, torres was one of the firsts swimmers with Manuel pancorbo (athlete9 and Prados Garcia 8soccer referee). During all the morning, Xavi Torres sign photos to the young swimmer of Cn Jaen.

12/5/2002 – Xavi Torres finnish his participation in Belgium with one gold and two silver more

With victory in his prefered event, 150 medley and a excelent time of 2.38.53 and two second places in 50 and 100 free ( 42.57 and 1.31.19) finnish Xavi Torres his swim in the Belgium swimming Championships in short course.

Totally: four golds and four silver that finalished in Anwerpen the great competition started last week in Finland where the spanish swimmer wins his classification to the World Championships to be held in Mar del Plata (Argentina).

Xavi Torres is specially happy of his time in 150 medley because it’s one of his best history time in short course. He win to Krystof Slezcka (second in Sydney) who was after Torres.

next month Torres wil swim the BT Open (Sheffield), US Open (Whasington) and German Championships (Berlin)

12/5/2002 – Finnish Open. Results Xavi Torres (Real Club Náutico de Palma)

Xavi Torres, has participted in the Finnish Open since 3rd to 5th May in Jyvaskyla. It was the first international competition of Torres representing the Real Club Náutico de Palma.
The results show again the best physical moment of the swimmer who win three gold and one silver.
